"Larry Katz was born and raised in Livingston, New Jersey. He attended Livingston High School and participated in the schools undefeated state championship season. He then attended Florida State University and later transferred to Kean University, where he was a divisional state finalist. Larry started teaching tennis early in life working in summer camps and instructing children when in high school and college. He began teaching tennis full time at West Orange Tennis Club while finishing up his undergraduate degree at Kean. Larry went on to recieve a masters degree from Kean in the behavioral sciences. While attending college he began practicing yoga for the benefit of increased flexibility and enhanced concentration. The influence that yoga had on larry's tennis led him to write a book entitiled ""Beyond Winning,"" which was published in 2010. Larry is currently a senior staff professional at the West Orange Tennis Club and has been the Head Tennis Professional at Cedar Hill since 1997. He resides in Succasunna, New Jersey with his wife Maureen and two sons, Robbie and Peter."
